Side linkage adjustment
If your shifter has a side adjustment rod (as shown in the picture), follow these steps to ensure smooth engagement of 3rd and 4th gears:
- From the neutral position, gently push the shifter forward into 3rd gear and pull backward into 4th gear. If there's any resistance or side-to-side movement, the adjustment rod needs to be fine-tuned.
- To adjust, rotate the center section of the rod with your fingers while testing the gear engagement.
- Keep adjusting until 3rd and 4th gears engage smoothly, without any lateral (sideways) movement.
- Once you find the optimal position (the “sweet spot”), tighten the 10 mm nuts, tight them towards the outside of linkage, on both sides of the linkage to lock it in place.
