Ford Fiesta MK8 Installation
This guide explains how to install and correctly adjust the REVIN Short Shifter for the Ford Fiesta MK8.
Before beginning the installation, park the vehicle on a level surface, switch off the ignition and place the gearbox in neutral.
Professional installation is recommended.
1. Remove the Centre Console Trim
Begin by removing the four screw covers located around the lower section of the centre console.
Underneath the covers you will find 4 Torx T30 screws.
Remove all four screws.
Once the screws have been removed, carefully slide the lower console trim forward towards the engine and remove it.
TIP:
Use plastic trim removal tools where possible to avoid damaging the interior panels.
2. Remove the Gear Lever Trim
Remove the original gear knob.
Carefully lift and remove the upper gear lever surround and gear gaiter assembly.
The surrounding trim is held mainly by clips and can be released by carefully pulling upwards.
Do not use excessive force.
3. Disconnect the Centre Console Electronics
Disconnect the electrical connectors for:
- the 12 V / cigarette lighter socket;
- the USB socket;
- the climate control panel.
Carefully pull the climate control assembly backwards towards the handbrake before disconnecting the connectors.
4. Remove the Centre Tunnel
Remove the small storage compartment and the trim around the handbrake.
Behind the trim you will find two Torx T15 screws securing the centre tunnel.
Remove both screws.
Carefully slide the entire centre tunnel backwards until the original shifter assembly is accessible.
IMPORTANT:
Check for remaining electrical connectors before completely removing the centre tunnel.
5. Disconnect the Original Shift Cables
Locate the two gearbox cables connected to the original shifter.
Disconnect the cable ends from the OEM shifter mechanism.
Then release the outer cable housings.
To release the cable housings, pull back the knurled locking sections and lift the cables from their mounting points.
6. Remove the Original Shifter
Using a 10 mm socket or spanner, remove the four nuts securing the original shifter assembly.
Lift the complete factory shifter assembly out of the vehicle.
Keep the original mounting studs and surrounding area clean before installing the REVIN unit.
7. Install the REVIN Spacers
The REVIN kit includes 4 aluminium spacers.

Place one spacer onto each of the four original mounting studs.
Make sure all four spacers sit flat and are fully seated.
8. Remove the Cable Guide
Before installing the REVIN shifter, remove the plastic cable guide located near the original shifter assembly.
Removing this guide provides the necessary clearance for the new shifter and the shift cables.
IMPORTANT:
After removing the guide, make sure the cables cannot rub against any sharp edges.
9. Install the REVIN Short Shifter
Position the REVIN Short Shifter onto the four original mounting studs.
Route both shift cables under and through the lower section of the REVIN shifter assembly.
Ensure that neither cable is twisted, stretched or trapped underneath the shifter.
Secure the REVIN shifter using the 4 M6 nuts.
Tighten evenly using a 10 mm spanner or socket.

10. Secure the Shift Cable Housings
Insert both cable housing ends into the corresponding mounting positions on the REVIN shifter.
Pull back the locking collars, position the cable housings correctly and release the collars.
Make sure both housings are securely locked in place.
11. Connect the Shift Cables
Connect both shift cable ends to the REVIN shifter mechanism.
Make sure the connections are completely seated.
At this stage, do not reinstall the centre console.
The shifter must first be adjusted and tested.
12. Initial Shifter Adjustment
Place the gearbox in neutral.
The REVIN shifter includes adjustable linkage points that allow the mechanism to be correctly aligned with the gearbox.
Adjust the linkage until all gears can be selected smoothly and the shifter does not contact the surrounding interior plastics.
The adjustment on the right-hand side has a significant effect on engagement of:
1st / 2nd / 5th / 6th gears.

Adjustment A
Controls one side of the linkage positioning.
Adjustment B
Controls the lateral alignment of the shifter and strongly affects engagement of the outer gear gates.
Make small adjustments and test the gearbox after every change.
IMPORTANT:
Do not attempt to compensate for incorrect cable alignment using the gear-stop screws.
First adjust the linkage correctly.
13. Adjust the Gear lockout scres
Once all gears engage smoothly, adjust the mechanical gear lockout screws.
14. Check All Gears
With the engine switched off, test:
1 → 2 → 3 → 4 → 5 → 6 → Reverse
Each gear should engage smoothly and positively.
Make sure:
- all six forward gears engage completely;
- reverse engages correctly;
- the lever does not hit the surrounding plastics;
- the shift cables move freely;
- the shifter returns correctly towards the centre;
- the mechanical stops do not prevent full gear engagement.
If any gear feels difficult to engage, do not force the lever.
Recheck the linkage adjustment before changing the stop screws.
15. Reassemble the Interior
Once the shifter has been correctly adjusted and all gears operate normally, reinstall the centre console in reverse order.
Reconnect:
- climate control connectors;
- USB connector;
- 12 V socket connector.
Reinstall the handbrake trim, storage compartment, gear lever trim and remaining console panels.
Final Check
Start the engine and carefully test gear engagement while the vehicle is stationary.
Before driving, make sure that every gear engages completely.
After the first drive, we recommend checking all accessible mounting and adjustment points again.
